Robotic FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) Q & A

What is FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)?

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a minimally invasive hair transplantation procedure where individual follicular units are independently extracted from a patient’s donor region and then transplanted into the area of thinning hair in the crown or frontal scalp of women and men .The individual follicle units are removed by a robot. The robot allows safe, precise, rapid removal of follicular units. There is no long scar in the scalp and stitches are not necessary. This leaves the donor area with pinpoint scars as opposed to a longer linear scar. Robotic FUE donor harvesting is part of a broader trend in medicine toward minimally invasive surgery for rapid safe recovery after the procedure .The robotic FUE procedure will be performed by and under the supervision of Dr Marc Avram and his experienced surgical staff.

Why Should I Choose a FUE?

A FUE procedure will be performed by and under the supervision of a trained physician. The physician has dedicated his time to hair restorations and understands the unique challenges this type of procedure entails. The physician is highly skilled and this procedure has shown results time and time again. The process of a natural graft placement, where the patient’s hairline is recreated to match their original hair growth pattern will provide the most natural-looking results. What are the Benefits of a FUE?

  • No stitches
  • Donor area looks practically unchanged within days
  • Natural-looking and permanent
  • Minimally invasive
  • Simple outpatient procedure
  • Fast recovery, usually a day

What Will the Hair Growth Be Like?

Restored hair will grow the same way as the natural hair would. Roughly three months following the procedure new hair will start to grow. After about six months, the patient should notice significant new growth.
